The Swiss Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO) is responsible for the surveillance and reporting of animal diseases. According to the Federal Law on Animal Epidemics (RS 916.40 Loi du 1er juillet 1966 sur les épizooties) and the corresponding ordinance (RS 916.401 Ordonnance du 27 juin 1995 sur les épizooties), notifiable animal diseases have to be reported to the FSVO which in turn is responsible for the reporting to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE). No outbreaks of infectious diseases or similar occurrences that seemed to deviate from the normal pattern in terms of animal diseases were observed during the reporting period.
